Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 8, 2026
My Amaal helps Muslims find timely worship reminders, calendar context, and source references. This policy describes what data the v1 app and marketing site collect, how that data is used, and what remains local to your device.
This policy is a product privacy document, not legal advice.
For privacy questions or data deletion requests, contact: support@myamaal.com
Data we collect
If you sign in with an email magic link, My Amaal stores your email address, a Supabase user identifier, a profile row linked to your account, and your authentication session on your device.
You can browse public content without creating an account.
Calendar and location settings
My Amaal uses calendar settings to calculate Islamic day/night context and reminder timing. The app may store timezone, city and country if entered, latitude and longitude if selected or manually entered, Hijri date adjustment, and prayer calculation method.
The app does not require GPS permission in v1. Location entry is optional and can be entered manually. If you are signed in, these settings may sync to Supabase for cloud reminders. If you are not signed in, they are stored locally on your device.
City suggestions are requested from OpenStreetMap Nominatim when you type a location during onboarding. Those requests are used to return city/country suggestions and coordinates.
Notification preferences and push tokens
If you enable notifications, My Amaal may store which reminders you enabled, your Expo push token, device platform, and notification log rows needed to schedule and send reminders.
Push tokens are used only to deliver reminders you choose. They are not sold or used for advertising.
If you are signed out, push token details may be stored locally, but cloud reminders require sign-in for v1.
Waitlist email
If you join the marketing waitlist, My Amaal stores your email address, waitlist source, and optional interests if provided in the future.
Local-only data
Wudu status, worship action checklist completion, and theme preference are stored locally on your device and are not synced to Supabase in v1.
Wudu status and worship checklist completion are not used for analytics, profiling, or server-side tracking in v1.
Data we do not collect in v1
My Amaal does not currently collect analytics events, advertising identifiers, purchase history, contact lists, photos, camera, microphone, files, GPS location permission data, or server-side Wudu/checklist completion data.
How we use data
My Amaal uses data to sign users in, show public content and evidence references, calculate Islamic date/night context and reminder timing, save user preferences, send selected push notifications, manage the marketing waitlist, and respond to support or deletion requests.
Tracking and selling data
My Amaal does not sell personal data.
My Amaal does not use personal data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking in v1.
Third-party services
My Amaal uses Supabase for authentication, database, Edge Functions, and server-side app data; Expo for push notification token generation and notification delivery infrastructure; AlAdhan-compatible timing data for Islamic date and Maghrib calculations; OpenStreetMap Nominatim for optional city/country suggestions; and Resend/Supabase SMTP configuration for authentication emails.
These services may process data as needed to provide app functionality.
Data retention
Account, profile, settings, notification preferences, push tokens, and notification logs are retained while your account exists or as needed to operate reminders.
Waitlist emails are retained until you request removal or the waitlist is retired.
Local-only data remains on your device until you clear app storage, uninstall the app, or reset the relevant settings.
Delete account and data
To request account deletion or server-side data deletion, email support@myamaal.com from the email address associated with your account.
Use the subject: Delete My Amaal account. Include the account email address to delete and whether you also want waitlist data associated with the same email deleted.
Deletion requests cover server-side data such as profile, settings, notification preferences, push tokens, notification logs, and waitlist email where applicable.
Local-only Wudu status, worship checklist completion, theme preference, and local settings are stored on your device. To remove local-only data, use app reset options where available, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.
Children
My Amaal is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@myamaal.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published with a new effective date.
