An Islamic app you can finally trust.
My Amaal began with a simple, stubborn idea: build the worship companion I'd be happy to put in my own family's hands — private, sourced, and beautiful, with nothing to hide.
A while ago, I deleted every Islamic app on my phone. Not because I'd stopped praying — but because of how they treated the people using them. Prayer times buried in ads. “Free” apps that felt like the worship was somehow the product. Duas and reminders with no source you could actually check. For something as personal as worship, it felt like a quiet betrayal.
The unease wasn't imaginary. In 2020 it came to light that one of the most popular Muslim prayer apps had been selling its users' location data to brokers — the kind of thing that turns your devotion into someone else's dataset. I won't name and shame; the company has since changed course. But the principle stayed with me: if an app is going to sit beside you in your most sincere moments, it has no business surveilling them.
I didn't want “less bad.” I wanted an app I'd trust my own mother with.
So I stopped looking and started building. I gave myself three non-negotiables — the rules everything else would have to bend around, never the other way:
- 1It has to be private. No tracking, no ads, no data sold. Your worship is yours alone.
- 2It has to be sourced. Every hadith and dua graded and referenced — a librarian, not a mufti.
- 3It has to work anywhere. Offline, without an account, with the full Qur'an in your pocket.
The feature I'm proudest of
The hardest of these to honour was the dua companion. You describe how you're feeling — anxious, grateful, in debt, hopeful — and My Amaal finds an authentic dua that meets the moment. The catch most apps would take is obvious: send what you typed to a server, log it, learn from it. We refused. The match runs entirely on your device. What you type never leaves your phone. A private thought stays a private thought.
Building in the open
I'm choosing to build My Amaal in public — sharing the wins, the rough edges, and the lessons as they come. Partly because honesty is the whole point of a trust-first app, and partly because the people who use it should help shape it. The marketing matches the code: if we say it on this site, the app does it, and the privacy labels back it up.
Three non-negotiables
The principles we won't bend.
Not a mission statement on a wall — the actual rules the product is built around. Each one is a promise, and each one is in the code.
Private by design
No tracking, no ads, no data sold — ever. Your worship tracking lives on your device, and the dua match runs entirely on your phone. What you type never leaves it. We only ever count anonymous, aggregate totals — no names, no identifiers, nothing that points back to you.
Authentic by default
Every hadith and dua keeps its source close by, with authenticity labels you can see. My Amaal retrieves vetted, reviewed guidance — it never invents rulings. A librarian, not a mufti: for your own circumstances, it points you back to scholars you trust.
Beautiful & complete
Prayer times and streaks, the full Qur'an offline, the Qibla, daily adhkar, and a Wudu tracker with a home-screen widget — calm, considered, and a joy to open. Everything for your day in one quiet place, with nothing fighting for your attention.

What “amaal” means
In Arabic, amaal (أعمال) means one's deeds — the good works a person offers through their days. It's the word behind the saying that deeds are judged by their endings, and that the most beloved deeds are the consistent ones, however small.
That's exactly what this app is for: a calm companion for your daily deeds — helping you stay close to your prayers, return to the Qur'an, and keep the small acts of worship going, day after day.
